Today is my 6 month surgiversary! Life overall is pretty dang good. There continue to be tradeoffs, of course, and I still have moments of self-pity that I can't eat x,y or z. Still not one day of regret.
I'm down a total of 85 lbs and am now fitting comfortably in most size 14 clothes and size L/XL shirts, depending on cut. My daughter gave me a pair of her Jr. sz shorts yesterday and they were a bit too big.. It's still weird to put my hands on my hips and feel hipbones instead of rolls of fat. Well, I still have fat, just a lot less than before. I don't look quite like a melted candle but I definitely have loose and wrinkly skin in places. The only place it really bothers me is my arms because those are pretty visible every day. And I have a bit of a wattle forming where I used to have a double chin. Not crazy about that either. Still, WORTH THE PRICE. :)
Oh yes, the hair loss started in month 4 and continues on. I'm pretty confident it will grow back but it's very disconcerting to brush one's hair and see such a huge handful come out. My hair was so thick before I couldn't use a small ponytail holder and now I can wrap it around my tiny pinch of hair a couple times. To most people, though, I imagine it doesn't look bad. At least I hope so. Many people have said their hair loss stopped around 6 months so I'm really hoping that's the case for me too.
I've been getting on the treadmill sporadically, not as regularly as I would have liked. In 10 days, I'm doing my first 5k. I may not be able to run the whole thing, but I'm going to run as much as I can. I would love to finish it in 45 minutes but that may be a stretch. I'll update how it went!
